Cancer to Overtake Heart Disease as Nation’s Leading Cause of Death?

AbleStock/Hemera Technologies(WASHINGTON) — There are troubling new signs that cancer is beginning to overtake heart disease as the nation’s top cause of death.
Cancer has become the leading killer of Hispanic Americans and considering that Hispanics are the fastest-growing ethnic group, researchers expect that within a decade — and perhaps as early as this year — cancer will be the top cause of death among the population as a whole.
But there is encouraging news in the latest American Cancer Society publication: Both heart disease and cancer death rates have been dropping — but heart disease numbers are falling faster.
