(ST. LOUIS) — Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltran belted a pinch-hit, go-ahead two-run double in the bottom of the sixth as St. Louis defeated the Houston Astros Thursday afternoon, 5-4, sweeping the three-game series.
First baseman Allen Craig put the Red Birds on the board in the bottom of the first with a three-run blast, his 22nd home run of the season.
Cardinals pitcher Jamie Garcia picked up the victory (5-7), giving up three earned runs on six hits in six innings of work.
The Astros fell to 48-102 on the season.
