(LOUDON, N.H.) — Denny Hamlin took home the checkered flag in the second stop for the chase for the Sprint Cup championship at New Hampshire on Sunday. The win was Hamlin’s fifth of the season.
Jimmie Johnson finished in second for the second straight week and took over the points lead. Jeff Gordon finished in third.
“Doesn’t hurt to have a little confidence in your team,” said Hamlin who led for 193 laps on Sunday. “This is my team and just excited about everything.”
The victory was Joe Gibbs Racing 100th of their career.
“I’m thrilled to have Denny driving for us,” said Joe Gibbs, who gave Hamlin a chance at a young age in the Truck Series. “I appreciate his family, everybody, it’s a great story for him.”
