Manning threw three first quarter interceptions, and the Atlanta Falcons (2-0) withstood a late charge to get past the Denver Broncos 27-21 on Monday night.

Matt Ryan threw short touchdown passes for the Falcons, who took advantage of four Broncos (1-1) turnovers to win their home opener. Michael Turner had a rushing touchdown for Atlanta.

Manning, who is coming off multiple neck surgeries but was effective in his season debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers, struggled early against the Atlanta secondary. It was only the second time in his career that he threw three interceptions in the opening quarter. Manning finished 24 of 37 for 241 yards and one touchdown to go along with the picks.

Willis McGahee rushed for 113 yards and two scores for the Broncos, who were outgained 336-275 overall.

Ryan led a balanced attack for the Falcons, completing 24 of 36 passes for 219 yards. Tony Gonzalez and Roddy White each caught scoring passes.
