Giants Beat Padres, 8-4; Win N-L West Division Crown
Published at(SAN FRANCISCO) — The San Francisco Giants (89-63) clinched the National League West division Saturday night after defeating the San Diego Padres (72-80), 8-4.
Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner (16-10) allowed two earned runs on five hits over 5 2-3 innings of work. He struck out six, while allowing just one walk.
San Francisco’s offense pounded Padres starting pitcher Andrew Werner for five-earned runs with the big blow coming in the fourth, when second baseman Marco Scutaro singled home two-runs.
Giants first baseman Brandon Belt would later add a solo home run in the eighth, his seventh of the season.
