Heartbroken Tom Cruise Misses Daughter Suri, Friend Says

Europa Press/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Tom Cruise’s heart is “broken” over the separation from his daughter Suri, who moved to Manhattan with her mother, Katie Holmes, when her parents divorced earlier this year, a friend of the actor said.
Speaking in an interview in the new issue of People magazine, on newsstands Friday, Cruise’s friend screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie revealed that the star had not seen 6-year-old Suri since the two returned from a vacation to Disney World on Aug. 5.
“I’ve got to see her. I miss her,” an emotional Cruise said, according to McQuarrie.
The longtime Hollywood A-lister has two other children from his prior marriage to actress Nicole Kidman.
The actor was married to Holmes for nearly six years, and reportedly was blindsided when she filed for divorce on June 28, a few days shy of his 50th birthday.
The 33-year-old actress has primary custody of Suri. Holmes and her daughter now live in Manhattan, and the girl attends private school there.
Even though they now live in different cities and his work schedule is tough, Cruise talks to his daughter many times a day, People reported, citing several sources.
“I can tell you that I haven’t had a meeting with Tom that was not interrupted by a phone call with his daughter,” McQuarrie, who has worked on four films with Cruise, also told People. “His heart is broken. He misses his little girl and works very hard at parenting.”
Holmes and Cruise reportedly are working out their co-parenting amicably.
“He loves his kid, and he’s going to be a loving presence in her life as long as he lives,” McQuarrie said.
The actor has been busy working on movies to which he had committed before Holmes filed for divorce, while Holmes has immersed herself in several new projects, including a makeup endorsement, a Broadway show and the launch of her new fashion line, Holmes & Yang.
