Jets Will Use McKnight at Cornerback
Published at(FLORHAM PARK, N.J.) — New York Jets running back Joe McKnight is being converted into a cornerback, and he’s not happy about it.
With star corner Darrelle Revis out for the season with a torn ACL, Jets head coach Rex Ryan decided it was best to convert McKnight to a defensive player.
“He’ll have a role on offense but we’re teaching him how to play corner in an almost, not quite a full-time capacity,” Ryan said. “But he’s going to be over there a ton, in the meetings and everything else.”
McKnight feels the move is a slight. “I was not disappointed, I was just sad,” McKnight said. “I took it as I’m not good enough to play running back.”
In his little more than two seasons as a running back, McKnight has rushed for 337 yards, on 85 carries and scored zero touchdowns.
