(WASHINGTON) — Jobless claims dropped by 12,000 last week to wrap up the month of August, the Labor Department reported on Thursday.
For the week ending Sept. 1, the number of people filing for benefits fell to 365,000. The previous week, claims stood at 377,000.
The four-week average, however, took a slight turn upwards, rising by 250 to 371,250.
Americans will get a better grip on how the jobs market fared last month when the Labor Department releases its monthly employment report Friday morning.
