(NEW YORK) — U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III selected Jim Furyk, Dustin Johnson, Brandt Snedeker and Steve Stricker to complete his 12-man squad Tuesday.
“There was a lot of guys that played a lot of really great golf,” Love said on his picks. “You can analyze the numbers up and down and back and forth. It was tough to leave anybody off.”
The toughest being Hunter Mahan, who is currently ranked 19th in the world rankings, and has won twice this year. Mahan actually led in the Ryder Cup standings after the Masters, but hasn’t played well the past five months.
The other eight Americans are Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner, Matt Kuchar, Phil Mickelson, Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson and Zach Johnson.
The Ryder Cup, which will be played just outside Chicago at Medinah Country Club, lasts from September 28-30.
