Nicki Minaj Raps for Romney?
Published at(NEW YORK) — Actor-director Clint Eastwood might have some celebrity company this week with his allegiance to Mitt Romney. Rapper Nicki Minaj appears to endorse Romney’s presidential bid in a new rap song out this week.
Minaj recorded the verse in a guest appearance on the track “Mercy” on fellow rapper Lil Wayne’s mixtape Dedication 4, which was released online Monday.
“I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy [expletive] is [expletive] up the economy,” Minaj says.
Born Onika Tanya Maraj in Trinidad and Tobago, the hip-hop star was raised in New York City and attended LaGuardia High School for music and the arts.
Her representatives did not respond to numerous ABC News requests for comment about what the lyrics mean or whether Minaj is registered to vote in the United States.
Rapper Talib Kweli chalked up Minaj’s latest political comments as a public relations stunt.
“I doubt Nicki seriously supports Romney,” he tweeted. “Her lyrics ain’t political. She just wants y’all to talk about her & she winning cuz it’s working.”
