Published at(TUSCALOOSA, AL) — A.J. McCarron threw for 219 yards and four touchdowns as the top-ranked Crimson Tide (2-0) crushed the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 35-0, Saturday afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The four touchdowns matched a career-high for the junior signal-caller.
Receivers Christion Jones and Kevin Norwood had two touchdown receptions a piece.
Alabama scored its first touchdown less than two minutes into the game, its quickest touchdown produced to start a game in two years. They scored 1:19 into a game against Duke in 2010.
Western Kentucky (1-1) were 40-point underdogs in this game.
Hilltoppers quarterback Kawaun Jakes was 20-31, for 178 yards and an interception.
Alabama outgained Western Kentucky 328-224. The Tide ran for 103 yards, but limited the Hilltoppers to 28 rushes for 46 yards.
The Crimson Tide will face No. 8 Arkansas next Saturday.
