(NORTON, Mass.) — Louis Oosthuizen had a round to remember in Massachusets.
The South African shot a 8-under 63 in the third round of the Deutshe Bank Championship on Sunday. During the round he hit seven straight birdies, a tournament record. He also set records for low front-nine and a 54 hole mark of 19-under 194.
The 2010 British Open Champion overtook Rory McIlroy to take a three shot lead into the final round.
“Probably the start anyone would dream of on that front nine,” Oosthuizen said. “I made everything, so you get those days where you just look at a putt and you hole it. That was my first nine holes.”
During the birdie streak, Oosthuizen hit a couple of long ones, including four of at least 20 feat. He sunk a 40-footer on the eigth hole.
Tiger Woods shot a 68 and is six strokes back entering the final round.
