Outfielder Nate McLouth hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth as the Orioles (80-62) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (77-65), 3-2 Wednesday, keeping them tied a top the AL East standings with the Yankees.

The O’s are now 26-7 in one-run games.

“It’s tough to explain,” McLouth said when talking about the Orioles success in close games. “I think sometimes it’s better off not to ask why and just let it happen. Different guys have been stepping up big and I was luckily the guy tonight.”

The Orioles are now 18-games above .500 for the first time since 1997.
