(BOISE, ID)  —  Rex Rammell’s court battles against the state of Idaho and Jim Risch are likely at an end. The state Supreme Court unanimously upheld the legality of then Gov. Jim Risch’s decision to kill several dozen elk that had escaped from Rammell’s ranch near Yellowstone in 2006. Justices determined that the state did not violate private property laws by killing the animals. Risch says Rammell’s elk were possibly diseased, posing a significant threat to the health of native elk herds in Idaho and Wyoming. Rammell declined to comment following Friday’s decision.
