(POCATELLO, ID)  —  Officials in Bannock County are working frantically to ensure that the area damaged by the Charlotte Fire gets re-seeded. They say heavy rain or snowfall could be potentially devastating to the burned area, primarily because of the loss of grass, trees, and sagebrush. The plants normally hold topsoil in place, but since the fire, the risk of erosion has nearly quadrupled. They say affected landowners must first sign off on a re-seeding plan, which the county hopes to have going within the next few weeks.
