MLB? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1348516423175Major League Baseball(NEW YORK) — After missing out on the playoffs last season, the San Francisco Giants are going back to the postseason after clinching the National League West Division title and defeating the San Diego Padres 8-4 yesterday.

It’s the second division title for the Giants in the last three seasons. The last time they won the division, they won the World Series back in 2010. This is just the team’s second postseason appearance over the past nine seasons as well. After winning their sixth straight game yesterday, the Giants were able to clinch the division with 10 games remaining on the schedule.

“It’s the first step,” Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval said. “We’re excited to get it done early.”

Over the past few seasons, the Giants have been so successful because of their pitching. This year, it has been their offense that has been getting the job done. The team ranks 11th in the majors in runs scored and fifth in batting average.
