SE Idaho Could Harvest Geothermal Potential

(POCATELLO, ID)  —  Geologists at Idaho State University say southeast Idaho is sitting on a major untapped energy resource. The region is home to one of the biggest geothermal systems in the world, which could provide a greener, cheaper alternative to coal, oil, and natural gas. Geothermal energy development is still in its infancy, but with advances in engineering and technology, the industry could become a major factor in the Gem State’s economy.
