South Korea Stops Buying US Rice

Photos.com/Thinkstock(LONDON) — South Korea is suspending the bidding and sale of U.S. rice.
The decision by South Korea to suspend the sale of U.S. rice follows a Consumer Reports’ study which says many of the rice products found on the supermarket shelf and in our homes contain worrisome levels of arsenic.
Consumer Reports is asking the Food and Drug Administration to set limits for arsenic in rice and fruit juices. A preliminary study by the FDA found no evidence the rice is unsafe but will complete a larger study by the end of the year.
