In an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Roethlisberger reiterated that if he had to choose between playing and witnessing the birth of his child, he will be with his wife.

“I’m not missing the birth of my child,” Roethlisberger told the paper. “There’s no chance. I know some fans probably don’t want to hear that, but there’s not chance.”

“We’ll do everything we can to make sure it doesn’t happen,” Roethlisberger later added.

In his eight sesons in the NFL, all with the Steelers, Roethlisberger has missed 13 games due to various injuries. His wife is due sometime in December, and could be in labor around Week 13 of the regular season. This will be his first child.
