NFL? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1347218812120National Football League(NEW YORK) — After a once promising career, wide receiver Roy Williams has decided to retire from the NFL.

The former Pro Bowler has decided to call it a career after eight seasons in the NFL. He was the seventh overall pick in the 2004 draft by the Detroit Lions.

He was very productive for the Lions in his four full seasons with the team. His best season came in 2006 when he caught 82 passes for 1,310 yards and seven touchdowns. He was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in the middle of the 2008 season.

“It’s hard to quit when you have been doing the same thing since the third grade,” Williams said, via the Star-Telegram. “I’m in good shape. I’m at 208 pounds, my lowest weight since college. I can still play. But when I declined to workout in Miami, I knew I was done.”

The 30-year old Williams spent last season with the Chicago Bears. He caught 37 passes for 507 yards and two touchdowns.
