(YELLOWSTONE, N.P.) – Yellowstone National Park had a near record-setting number of visitors last month. More than 780,000 people visited Yellowstone in August, the third highest level in the park’s history. Overall visitation is up 2.1 percent over last year, though visitor numbers were down 3.1 percent in August compared to 2011. July is typically the park’s busiest month, with more than 888,000 people passing through the park’s gates this year.
