(SAN FRANCISCO) — San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith connected with tight end Delanie Walker on a 12-yard touchdown catch, the only touchdown of the game, as the Niners won a physical battle versus the Seattle Seahawks, 13-6.
The Seahawks (4-3) went into halftime with a 6-3 lead, but the 49ers’ defense shut them out in the second half.
“Just really, really pleased,” Niners head coach Jim Harbaugh said. “The way they covered kicks all night. The way we played defense. The way we played offense. The way we moved people up front. It was a physical first half too but that second half was the most physical I’ve ever seen our team play. I’m really proud of them for that.”
The 49ers (5-2) got a great contribution from running back Frank Gore who rushed for 131 yards on 16 carries.
The win puts San Francisco in sole possession of first place in the NFC West.
