Connie Britton, best known for her roles on Friday Night Lights and American Horror Story, plays country singer Rayna Jaymes. Rayna has had a long and successful career, but her relevance in the music industry is slowly beginning to fade.

Complicating matters for Rayna is the emergence of a young and attractive musician, Juliette Barnes, who’s struggling with personal problems. Juliette is played by Hayden Panettiere.

Nashville airs at 10 p.m. Eastern time, opposite an NBC drama also making its debut Wednesday night: Chicago Fire.  The series, from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, follows the lives of firefighters, a rescue squad and paramedics in the Windy City.

If you’re a comic fan, you may want to check out the new CW show Arrow at 8 p.m. Eastern time.  It’s an adaptation of the DC Comics character Green Arrow.
