(NEW YORK) — After hours of speculation, the NFL and CBS have now made it official: Beyonce will indeed be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 3, 2013, in New Orleans.
Beyonce pretty much confirmed the initial reports that she had taken the gig when she posted a football-inspired photo on her website Tuesday afternoon called “Countdown to Touchdown.” The photo showed Beyonce wearing two strips of eye black — the stuff that football players smudge on their cheekbones to cut down on the glare from overhead stadium lights. “Feb 3” is spelled out across one strip, with “2013” spelled out across the other.
It’s not Beyonce’s first Super Bowl appearance. In 2004, she performed the national anthem in her Houston hometown prior to the New England Patriots-Carolina Panthers contest.
Madonna was the halftime performer at this year’s Super Bowl.
