In fact, the real estate mogul and host of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice told the host of CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday that he’ll sweeten the pot if he likes what he sees.  The offer will be rescinded at 5 p.m. Eastern time on Oct. 31.

A skeptical Letterman, who has openly questioned why Trump is obsessed with finding out if the president was actually born in the U.S., asked why Trump is so interested in the college records when Obama is not legally obligated to release them.

Running off a list of other presidential candidates in the past who have revealed their college records, Trump, who supports Mitt Romney, says he wants “transparency” and also remarked that it would show where the president was born.

Letterman, who alternately appeared amused and aggravated with Trump, said the president should be above coercion and blackmail, something his guest bristled at.

When Letterman suggested that it would only be fair for Romney to release the 10 years of tax returns the Obama campaign has demanded, Trump said he would be open to a swap: the tax filings for the Obama college records.
