In a statement provided to ABC News, frontman Dave Grohl said the band will be taking a break now that they’ve finished supporting their Grammy-winning album, Wasting Light.

“I’m not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again,” Grohl said. “It feels strange to say that, but it’s a good thing for all of us to go away for a while. It’s one of the reasons we’re still here. Sometimes it’s good to just … put it back in the garage for a while.”

The singer went on to assure fans that they shouldn’t worry about the band calling it quits. “I can’t give up this band. And I never will. Because it’s not just a band to me. It’s my life. It’s my family. It’s my world. [So] no gold watches or vacations just yet.”

Grohl added that he’ll be keeping busy during the Foos’ hiatus by working on completing his new documentary about Sound City Studios.  That’s where he and Nirvana recorded the band’s iconic 1991 album, Nevermind, which Grohl called the “biggest, most important project” on which he’s ever worked.
