The Giants, who now trail in the series 2-1, scored in the top of the tenth when Reds third baseman Scott Rolen mishandled a ground ball hit by Joaquin Arias which resulted in a late throw to first base and Buster Posey scoring.

“I’ve certainly gone through the play a bunch of times in my head between then and now,” The eight-time Gold-Glover Rolen said after the game. “Like I said, I would change the result and change the outcome, but I think I would have played it the same way. That’s the way it went. You credit Broxton (Jonathan) for getting the ground ball in that situation, and then I wasn’t able to make the play.”

San Francisco reliever Sergio Romo earned the win, pitching two perfect innings.

Reds’ starting pitcher Homer Bailey allowed only one hit and struck out 11 in the loss.

Cincinnati will get another chance to wrap up the series Wednesday night. First pitch will be at approximately 4:07 pm eastern.
