(WASHINGTON) — Rookie shortstop Pete Kozma blasted a three-run home run to help the St. Louis Cardinals shut down the Washington Nationals in Game 3 of the National League Divisional Series, 8-0, on Wednesday. The Red Birds now lead the best-of-five series, 2-1.
Former NL Cy Young award winner Chris Carpenter gave up seven hits over five and 2/3 innings of scoreless ball. The Red Birds starter issued two free passes while striking out two.
St. Louis will send Kyle Loshe to the mound for Game Four. The Nationals will counter with Ross Detwiler.
