ORL Richardson Quentin? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1351518214048NBA via Orlando Magic(NEW YORK) — With the start of the NBA season just a day away, the Orlando Magic have decided to trim their roster even further. The team has waived veteran guard Quentin Richardson.

Richardson won’t play for the Magic anymore, but he’ll still be paid by them. The Magic are still obligated to pay the rest of Richardson’s salary. He’ll be paid $2.6 million from Orlando this season, and $2.8 million next year. With the Magic in full rebuilding mode, they decided to make their roster even younger.

“All throughout the preseason, we evaluated everything, and we made the decision that, yeah, financially we’re going to have to make a decision that impacts us in that way,” Magic general manager Rob Hennigan said. “But we feel that the decision was [best] for the organization and the culture we want to start to set.”

The 32-year-old Richardson spent two seasons with the Magic. A 12-year NBA veteran, Richardson averaged 4.5 points per game during his time with Orlando. The team traded center Dwight Howard over the offseason and have decided to go with a youth movement.

Richardson will become a free agent and can sign with any team he chooses.
