Man Shot After Claiming to Have Bomb

(SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) – A Utah man is dead following a shootout with police in Salt Lake City. Authorities responded to a call Thursday night that a man was carrying a bomb at a TRAX station downtown. After a nearly two-hour standoff with police, negotiations broke down and the man began walking toward officers, refusing to stop. 39-year-old Anthony Mayhew was shot at the scene and later died. A bomb squad detonated the bag Mayhew claimed contained an explosive device.
