Mother Accused of Burning Daughter’s Body Denies Guilt

(MURPHY) – A southwest Idaho woman accused of burning her deceased two-year-old daughter’s body in a barrel has pleaded not guilty to destroying evidence. Veronica Herrera was arraigned Friday at the Owyhee County Courthouse. Herrera admitted to burning her daughter’s body after the child died of a head injury. She told police she feared she would lose custody of her other children if they found out the toddler had died. Prosecutors say additional charges are pending.
