A survey of more than one thousand Americans shows that 50 percent have a “good” or “great” relationship with their mother-in-law. Fifty-seven percent say they consider their mom-in-law to be a true friend, and 44 percent say they seek or heed advice from her.

The survey, conducted by the dating website Zoosk, also surveyed participants on their favorite Hollywood mother-in-law. Doris Roberts’ character on Everybody Loves Raymond won 37 percent of the vote, followed by Blythe Danner’s character in Meet the Parents, at 31 percent.

Jessica Walter’s spoiled mother-in-law character on Arrested Development earned just six percent.
