The veteran rock acts will make a bid for entry into the Rock Hall for the first time, as will influential rap groups Public Enemy and N.W.A.

The other nominees are Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Randy Newman, Procol Harum, Donna Summer, Kraftwerk, Chic, Albert King, The Marvelettes, The Meters and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

The inductees will be announced in mid-December.  Fans can help decide who’s inducted by casting their votes on RollingStone.com from now until Dec. 5.  The top five acts will make up a “fan’s ballot” that will be included among the ballots of the 600 artists, music historians and members of the industry who will select the class of 2013.

The 2013 induction ceremony is scheduled for April 18 in Los Angeles.
