Reds Manager Dusty Baker Unsure of His Future With the Team

Getty Dusty Baker?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1350158914825Jason Arnold/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — After a promising season turned into a huge disappointment, Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker doesn’t know if he’ll be back with the team next season.

On Thursday, the Reds lost Game 5 of the NLDS to the San Francisco Giants. Despite winning their division, the team couldn’t even win a home playoff game. It has been 17 years since the Reds last won a home playoff game.

“It was disheartening to have my club go through this,” Baker said after hte loss.

When asked about his future, Baker wasn’t sure what next season will hold for him.

“I’m not sure where my career is going here in Cincinnati,” he later added. “We’re going to talk about that in the next couple days. But I’m not through managing yet. I have more to do.”

Baker has been the manager of the Reds since 2008, but his contract is up at the end of the season.

Over a 19-year career as a manager, Baker has complied a 1,581-1,432 record as the manager of the Giants, Cubs, and Reds.
