(NEW YORK) — Beyonce has bowed out of Clint Eastwood’s A Star Is Born remake, according to Variety. Earlier this year, reports revealed that A Star Is Born had been pushed back in part because of Beyonce’s pregnancy.
Now Variety reports that the movie’s male lead hasn’t been locked in, and that’s holding things up. Though Warner Bros. had no official comment, Variety reports that sources say without a set start date, Bey’s busy schedule would become too complicated for her.
With Beyonce out, another music star may be in. Variety reports that jazz musician and singer Esperanza Spaulding has been eyeing the role of the up-and-coming performer who falls for an older, has-been star.
Discussions of who’ll replace Bey are on hold though until a male lead has been secured.
Knowles’ publicist did not immediately return ABC News’ request for comment.
