Rockies Manager Jim Tracy Resigns

Joe Robbins/Getty Images(DENVER) — After another poor season, Jim Tracy has resigned as the manager of the Colorado Rockies.
This past season, the Rockies set a franchise futility-mark, going 64-98. The team ranked sixth in Major League Baseball in runs scored, but dead last in team ERA.
Tracy took over for the clubs during the 2009 season, and led them to just their third postseason appearance in franchise history. Since that 2009 season, the team’s record has deteriorated each following season. The team won 83 games in 2010, 73 in 2011, and then 64 in Tracy’s final season with the team.
“He is truly respected inside our clubhouse and I hoped he would be with us so we he could help us improve and have a better season in 2013,” outfielder Carlos Gonzalez told the Denver Post. “Sadly, we had one of the worst seasons in franchise and when these things happen our jobs are at stake.”
The Rockies are the fourth team to change managers since the regular season ended.
