Son of Tommy Thompson Jokes About Sending Obama to Kenya

Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call(NEW YORK) — Wisconsin U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson said late Sunday he hadn’t seen a video of his son at a fundraiser earlier in the day in which he jokes about sending President Obama “back to Chicago…or Kenya.”
Jason Thompson was speaking at a fundraiser in Kenosha, Wis., attended by Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and state party Chairman Brad Courtney when he told the brunch crowd, “We have the opportunity to send President Obama back to Chicago — or Kenya.”
As the crowd applauds, a woman’s voice is heard saying, “We’re taking donations for the Kenya trip.”
Obama’s father was born in Kenya and those in the birther movement believe that the president was actually born there or somewhere else outside the U.S. that makes him to be ineligible to be president.
Tommy Thompson, the former Republican governor of Wisconsin, is in a tight race with Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin for the Senate seat. A spokesman from his campaign said that Jason Thompson “said something that he should not have and he apologizes.”
