Tennessee (3-5) almost came back at the end. With 8:35 left in the game, Tyler Bray connected on a 22-yard touchdown with Zach Rogers, his third touchdown catch of the game. Then with 1:08 left in the contest, Tennessee drove to the Gamecocks 19, but turned it over when Bray fumbled after getting hit by South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, and South Carolina recovered. The Volunteers got one more opportunity on offense, but Bray was intercepted by Victor Hampton to virtually end the game.

“It was one of those games that we thought it was windy but everyone was throwing it all over the place,” South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier said. “Sometimes that turns into a good passing day. We messed up a little bit on the goal line and here at the end, but our defense bailed us out…finally…at the end there.”

As for Lattimore, he was carted off the field in the second quarter after injuring his right leg while being tackled by Tennessee defensive back Eric Gordon. Lattimore was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
