Syrian Military Rockets Strike Bakery, Leave 20 Dead
Published at | Updated at(ALEPPO, Syria) — An artillery attack in Syria’s largest city of Aleppo left at least 20 people dead Tuesday.
What outraged activists already used to seeing wanton attacks by the government against civilians is that the assault hit a bread bakery in a part of the city that President Bashar al-Assad’s opponents control.
A video purported to show the attack’s aftermath revealed the bodies of workers and customers while rescuers tried to assist the wounded.
It was unclear whether the government’s missiles had intended to strike the bakery, which was unusually full because people were shopping for food to celebrate the Eid al-Adha holiday.
