Tom Cruise Sues Two Magazines for Claiming He Abandoned Suri

ABC/RICK ROWELL(LOS ANGELES) — Tom Cruise has filed a $50 million lawsuit against two magazines that claimed he abandoned the 6-year-old daughter he has with his ex-wife, Katie Holmes.
E! Online reports that the lawsuit, filed Wednesday in a California federal court, stems from a July 30 cover story published by Life & Style and an Oct. 1 cover story published by In Touch Weekly, both claiming the actor “abandoned” Suri. Both magazines are owned by Bauer Publishing.
Cruise’s lawyer, Bert Fields, says in a statement obtained by E! Online, “Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri. She’s a vital part of his life and always will be. To say he has ‘abandoned’ her is a vicious lie. To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible.”
According to the New York Daily News, Fields says that if Cruise wins the case, he’ll donate the money to charity.
