NBA? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1350075349888National Basketball Association(BEIJING) — One of the best scorers of the 2000’s is leaving the NBA, but not due to retirement. Tracy McGrady will play this season in China for the Qingdao DoubleStar Eagles in the Chinese Basketball Association.

McGrady was having a hard time finding a job in the NBA this season and considered retiring, but he decided to go play in China instead of calling it a career. McGrady is already a popular figure in China because he played with Chinese basketball start Yao Ming when they were both part of the Houston Rockets.

The 33-year old McGrady is a seven-time All-Star and former scoring champion. He also made the All-NBA First Team list from 2002-2003. Even though he battled back injuries for most of his career, McGrady was a prolific scorer who averaged a career high 32.1 points per game during the 2002-2003 season with the Orlando Magic.

“I consider myself a student of the game as I have watched, studied, and played with and against some of the best players in the world,” McGrady wrote on his blog. “The NBA was my university and I learned so much. The gratitude I feel is really immeasurable. I have experienced the best moments as a player can experience and had some dark ones too. Both equally important in helping shape me into the man I am today.”

In 15 NBA seasons, McGrady averaged 19.6 points per game with the Raptors, Magic, Rockets, Knicks, Pistons, and Hawks.
