(LONDON) — In Syria, Saturday marks the second day of a fragile UN brokered truce to mark the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha but violence has continued.
The daily death toll in Syria is less since the truce to mark the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha began but there was a car bombing in Damascus. There were also reports of outbreaks of violence in Homs and Idlib.
Rebels and the army had said they would observe the UN brokered deal but only if the other side held their fire. The UN had hoped the truce would give civilians caught up in the fighting a respite and provide a way forward, but that’s looking increasingly unlikely.
