The trustees of Whitney Houston’s estate, according to the court filing obtained by ABC News, want to change the distribution schedule of Brown’s inheritance payments. Their goal, according to the filing, is to protect Brown, a “highly visible target,” from those “who would exert undue influence over her inheritance and/or seek to benefit from respondent’s resources and celebrity.”

The five-page document does not go into details, but the trustees — Cissy Houston, Whitney’s mother; and Marion Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law and business manager — said that any proposed amendment would still allow Brown to live comfortably, according to the court petition.

Brown’s lawyer did not immediately respond to ABC News’ requests for comment.

Though there’s nothing in the court filing to indicate who might be exerting “undue influence” for trustees, since Whitney Houston’s death, Brown has been hanging out with Nick Gordon, a family friend. Gordon and Brown were involved in a car crash last month, and previously, he tweeted a photo of himself driving while brandishing a handgun.

Gordon, Brown and the Houston family will appear together on an upcoming reality series for Lifetime, The Houstons: On Our Own. The 14-episode show, set to premiere Oct. 24, follows Brown, Gordon, Houston’s sister-in-law Pat, brother Gary, and mother Cissy as they “try [to] pick up the pieces” in the wake of Whitney’s death.
