Starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia will have his left elbow examined by surgeon Dr. James Andrews.

Sabathia has his elbow checked out back in August because he was experiencing stiffness. He was placed on the disabled list but was able to rejoin the team. ESPN.com is reporting that Sabathia’s elbow issues are not ligament related, and shouldn’t be considered serious. But Sabathia is still concerned.

“Yeah, you have to be concerned, because like I’ve said, I’ve never had any problems with the elbow before,” Sabathia said, according to the New York Daily News. “We have to wait and see. … It’s something that I’ve never felt before, never had, so it’s best to go get it checked out and go from there.”

In Sabathia’s fourth season with the Yankees, he went 15-6 with a 3.38 ERA in 28 starts.

Despite his regular season success, in his final start of the season in Game 4 of the ALCS, he gave up five earned runs in just three and two thirds innings pitched.
