(2) Oregon Defeats California, 59-17 Behind Mariota’s 6 Touchdowns
Published at(BERKELEY, Calif.) — Ducks freshman quarterback Marcus Mariota tied a school record with six touchdown passes as (2) Oregon (10-0) pounded California (3-8) Saturday night, 59-17.
Oregon took a 24-10 lead into half-time, but Cal was able to cut the deficit to seven early in the third quarter on four-yard touchdown run by senior running back Isi Sofele.
The 19-year-old Mariota would respond, tossing four consecutive touchdowns to give the Ducks a 52-17 lead with 11:43 to play in the fourth quarter.
Maritoa would finish the game 27 of 34 with a career high 377 passing yards.
