(NEW YORK)– The time has arrived for fans of The Lord of the Rings to reserve their tickets for its prequel. Advance tickets for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey go on sale Wednesday at noon Eastern time.
Fandango is one of the outlets through which you can pick up tickets. Harry Medved with Fandango says The Hobbit will likely rank as one of the top advance sellers of the year, alongside The Hunger Games, The Dark Knight Rises, Marvel’s The Avengers and the upcoming Twilight film, Breaking Dawn — Part 2.
Medved is certain that The Hobbit will clean up at the box office when it premieres next month.
He says, “The Hobbit has all of December to itself, I think that’s no question about it going to be the biggest movie of the December season.”
Medved notes that six different versions of The Hobbit, the first of three films in a planned trilogy, will be released, including IMAX, IMAX 3D, and plain old 3D.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens Dec. 14.
