His dance has been mimicked by sports personalities, politicians and even UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. In Sydney, Santas will dance “Gangnam Style” on a deck of a navy ship.

David Small, the CEO of the charity Variety, explains, “[The dance] is to raise money for kids with special needs through Variety, the children’s charity. But it’s also as a community event so that all people from all abilities and all walks of life can take part, dress them up in a Santa suit and have some fun.”

According to Small, “We hope to get around 5000 Santas running here in Sydney and around 25,000 in all capital cities across the country.”

That’s a lot of Gangnam Santas, but it’s for a good cause.
