(BLACKFOOT) – Rising Medicare and Medicaid costs are partly to blame for an ambulance fee increase.
Starting Dec. 1, patients will be charged $11 per mile carried instead of $9 in Bingham County.
Emergency crews won’t be making a profit from the fee increase. Officials said the funds would go toward maintaining already-existing paramedic teams.
The price hike is also an adjustment corresponding to rising costs in Medicare and Medicaid.
