Brad Keselowski finished in sixth and left with a 20-spot in the points lead after Jimmie Johnson crashed with 77 laps remaining.

“There’s a difference between racing hard and what we saw today, that was borderline ridiculous at times,” said Keselowski on the two crashes.  “No guarantees but we’re very happy to have that points lead heading into next week.”

Johnson finished in 32nd after the crash

“It’s been a huge effort to try and get us a championship,” Johnson said of his chances at winning the chase for the sixth time being diminished.  “It’s racing and we’ll go to Homestead and see how things pan out.”

As for the crash with two laps remaining, Jeff Gordon said he’s had enough of Clint Bowyer.

“Clint’s run into me numerous times, wrecked me, and he got into me on the back straight away and pretty much ruined our day,” Gordon said of the melee that continued in the pit of both respective teams, who brawled during the caution.

The crash happened after NASCAR failed to throw a final caution flag for an oil spill on the track.

“It’s pretty embarrassing,” Bowyer said. “For a four-time champion, and what I consider one of the best this sport’s ever seen to act like this is pretty ridiculous.”

But will there be any retaliation?

“We’ll have to see,” Bowyer said.
