Caribbean Nations Still Reeling from Sandy

110212 HurricaneSandyCaribbean?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1351885643921NOAA(NEW YORK) — While most media focus on the impact of Hurricane Sandy is in the Northeast U.S., Caribbean countries are still suffering from the storm’s impact.

In Haiti, 54 were killed when heavy rains caused rivers to overflow and flood surrounding areas. Al Jazeera reports that cholera cases are on the rise and food security in the country is at risk.

In Cuba, homes and crops were destroyed throughout Santiago, the country’s second largest province.

Venezuela sent an aid plane loaded with food and other supplies to Cuba and announced it would also send supplies to Haiti.
